Two tries from Charlie Simpson and a hat trick from flanker Ronny Kynes helped the away team trounce the young Wanderers side as The Steelmen go to the top of the table.

Elsewhere, Narbeth got off to a strong start as they saw off Tata Steel in a 45-21 home win, with two tries from Jason Howells helping the side to a comfortable start.

Two tries from winger Gareth Dare helped Bargoed beat Whitland 38-5 whilst Newbridge got off to winning ways with a narrow 25-30 victory away at Llanharan.

It was tight between Bridgend Athletic and Bonymaen, as the away side came from behind to win 28-29, thanks to three conversions and a penalty from fly-half Ian Brooks.

In another close encounter, Beddau fought back from a half time deficit to beat home side Pontypool 27-30. Finally, despite two tries in the second half, the re-named Cardiff Met got the season off to a slow start with a 13-19 home defeat against Blackwood.
