Wales’ First Minister and the Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales will host a free public event to celebrate Welsh success at the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Gold medallists Jade Jones (Taekwondo), Aled Davies (Athletics) and Tom James (Rowing) will be among the achievers celebrating the Welcome Home Celebrations which will also feature Welsh Games Makers and Torchbearers.

A WRU spokesperson said: “The Olympics has been a momentous occasion for the people of Wales and it is fitting that our finest Olympic and Paralympic athletes are to be honoured on the steps of the Senedd tomorrow.

“Wales’ national stadium, which is owned and operated by the WRU, is extremely proud of its association with London 2012 and I’m sure the Games Makers, the Torchbearers and the people of Wales will be out in force to support the Welcome Home Celebrations.”

The celebrations will start with a concert at 4.30pm featuring performers from the dynamic and inspiring Cultural Olympiad in Wales including 19-year-old clarinettist and composer Lloyd Coleman, Abergavenny Borough Brass Band, the Celtic Cafe ensemble of traditional musicians and Ebbw Vale Male Choir.

The parade of Welsh athletes will be held between 6-7pm in front of their thousands of fans on the steps of the Senedd.

Fans can show their support for the event by tweeting @WelshGovernment #2012cymruwales or on facebook/WelshGovernment.
