From the outset Whitland went on the attack and after some nice interpassing between forwards and backs Catherine Davies powered over for the first try which she converted from wide out.
Whitland tried to play their normal expansive game but were being cut down by some great defence from the visitors and it was nearly half time before some powerful forward drives by Ffion Jones, Sara Davies and Anneka Hopson created some space for outside half Alice James to score her first try of the season. It was converted by Davies.
The second half was a stop start affair with neither team gaining the upper hand but on their first foray into the opposition 22 Pencoed gave away a penalty which was taken quickly by the ever alert scrum half Summons who passed wide to Nat Walsh who cashed through the defence to score, the conversion kicked by Davies.
The latter stages of the game were dominated by Pencoed and after a series of penalties which took Pencoed up to the Whitland try line a fine pick and drive try was scored by Kathyryn Stonehouse.
Whitland’s player of the match, picked by the opposition coaches, was centre Natalie Walsh.
