Iestyn Thomas’ side have had a good start to their campaign, registering a comprehensive 74-10 win over Coleg Sir Benfro before last week’s 21-19 home win over Neath Port Talbot College.

The match at St Helens, the home of Premiership side Swansea, will be the third match broadcast via the S4C website with a full repeat of the action available on the Welsh channel at 10.35pm.

And although Llandovery look the side to beat so far in this year’s competition, Thomas knows his side face another difficult challenge against Gower College who have yet to get a win on the board this year.

“It seems to be going well so far and we’re looking for our third win on Wednesday. It’s going to be a hard, competitive game and from all accounts they’ve got a big set of forwards and dangerous backs so they’re quite strong all round,” he said.

“I was very pleased with our forwards especially last week. They looked like they were under the cosh at one stage but rallied impressively.

After two wins from two so far, Thomas has made minimal changes to his side but knows a trip to St Helens will be a tough ask.

“It’s essentially the same team as last week and we’re looking to keep the continuity going,” he added.

“To play away from home gives them the advantage but Swansea’s wide pitch might give our backs the advantage.”

For Gower College coach Marc O’Kelly, it’s a case of hoping his side can put a full 80 minute performance together.

“In our first two fixtures we’ve been leading at half-time and we’ve started both games really well,” he said.

“But we’ve let it slip in both games and we’ve been working hard in training to put a full performance in.

“We’ve lost our first two games but looking forward to testing ourselves against Llandovery.”

In the other college games taking place on Wednesday, Bridgend College take on Coleg Gwent while Coleg Sir Gar travel to Coleg Sir Benfro.

Elsewhere, Coleg Morgannwg host Neath Port Talbot College who will be looking to bounce back themselves from their defeat to Llandovery last week.
