In glorious sunshine, the Miner Birds ran in a very impressive nine tries in front of a good crowd at Ystrad Fawr.
The ever improving Penallta pack had a major battle up front against a fiery and bigger opposition all afternoon and given credit where it’s due, “The Barry Bombettes” were by far the most physical side to cross the Miner Birds path this season.
Two milestones was achieved as two of the Miner Birds players reached double figures of tries for this season. The excellent No 8, Abbie Taylor grabbed herself a hat-trick, taking her tally to 10 tries this season. Also, Gemma Williams, The Miner Birds outside centre again grabbed a brace which also took her tally to ten.
Other try scorers for Penallta were Aimee Williams, who came back from a shoulder injury with a brace of tries. An excellent solo effort from wing Katie Watkins and one try from outside half Bethan Fox-Mabe – she also added 4 conversions.
Barry never threw in the towel and were in control by pinning Penallta back in their own 22 with some good phases of play. Barry was awarded with a good try for their efforts through speedy centre Kim Jones.
Next week, The Penallta Miner Birds travel west to face Lampeter and hope to keep up the unbeaten dream season alive. (KO 2.30pm)
