The home side led 17-3 at the interval and never looked back, running in four tries to secure a bonus point.
The contest got off to a quick start, both sides giving the ball plenty of width but surprisingly the first 10 minutes remained scoreless.
Despite the scores, Ponty were dominating territory with No 8 Dan Godfrey leading the line. And their efforts were eventually rewarded when outside half Lewis K Williams kicked a penalty with 14 minutes gone. The home team then immediately struck again as scrum half Gareth James darted through for a try which Williams converted.
And from there the home side did not look back. Ponty’s attackers once more displayed good continuity to send full back Geraint Walsh over for a well worked try, again converted by Williams. Swansea were intent on contributing fully to the game, applying significant pressure but their only reward came right on half time through a long range Nicky Thomas penalty.
The second period followed the pattern of the first, Swansea enjoying lengthy periods with ball in hand, but unable to breach the Ponty defensive blockade. The home team in turn responded by pounding the gain line and they extended their lead when the ball was whipped out for winger Lewis I Williams to cross on the overlap, his namesake’s conversion attempt rebounding off the post.
By now in control, the Ponty pack drove hard into opposition territory, flanker Ed Siggery setting off on a barnstorming charge to the line, his try converted by Williams.
The tempo of the game petered out into the final 10 minutes, blighted by errors and injuries, but Ponty withstood anything that Swansea could still throw at them to register a comprehensive bonus point win.
