Price is part of the Wales Sevens squad which will be looking to improve on last year’s overall finish of eighth and the Neath born forward feels Paul John’s side have prepared well.
Wales travelled to South Africa for a series of warm up matches prior to leaving for Australia which have been of huge benefit to the side.
“Preparations have gone well, there were a lot of very physical teams out in South Africa and it was great preparation,” he said.
“It was the first time we’ve had a warm up tour before starting the IRB circuit so the boys are itching to get going on the circuit now.”
Wales take on France, Portugal and Argentina in Pool D and Price knows conditions on the Gold Coast will be vastly different to the wet weather in Wales at the moment.
“The weather in Australia will be very different to what we’re used to in Wales but we’re looking forward to a new IRB season with Wales,” he said.
“They are different conditions of course, it’s a lot hotter out there but you’ve just got to adapt to what you’re given and play what’s on the field.”
The introduction of Wales Sevens contracts have also been a boost to the squad ahead of the start of the season as they allow the team to train together full time.
“As the coaches have been saying the strength in depth of the squad is much better this year and everyone is competing to get in the team,” added Price.
“We’re looking to be more consistent in the series this year and really push on towards the World Cup.”
