Seven took ownership of the game, setting camp in Whitland’s 22 for the first half and after some well worked rugby, centre Helen Jones crashed over the whitewash for a brace of tries. The extras were added by her centre partner Rachel Rees to give them a half-time lead of 14-0.
Whitland found themselves under heavy pressure but they defended stoutly with Elin Hywel, Allana Jones and Lowri Morgan to the fore.
The second half saw Whitland use the wind and with the front row of Ceris Moyle, Sara Davies and Amy Jones doing well in the scrums Whitland put some pressure on Seven Sisters but some superb defence kept them out.Â
It didn’t take long for Seven to gain possession and they moved the ball down the pitch before No. 8 Cari Bowen-Davies ploughed over the line.
Seven’s bonus point came as outside half Jami Davies touched down for the fourth try of the match. With Rachel Rees converting all four conversions, Seven led 28-0 with minutes left on the clock.
But Whitland showed no signs of lying down by throwing everything they had left into the match. Edging ever closer to the line by through their forwards, space opened for Emma Summons to dart over for their first points of the game. Cath Davies’ conversion brought the game to a close at 28-7.
Seven Sisters remain undefeated with a full complement of bonus points but will have to wait patiently during their week off before travelling to Pencoed on October 14 to see if they can continue their success.
Previously unbeaten Whitland will look to get back on track as they host Pencoed on the 7th.
