Stoddart cleared to play

04.02.23 - Wales v Ireland - Guinness Six Nations - Prematch pyrotechnics at Principality Stadium

Scarlets winger Morgan Stoddart has been cleared to play after receiving his marching orders against ASM Clermont Auvergne at Stade Marcel Michelin on Saturday.

The red card issued to Stoddart during the Heineken Cup Pool 5 match has been deemed to be sufficient punishment, and Stoddart is free to play with immediate effect.

Stoddart was shown a red card by referee, Peter Fitzgibbon (Ireland), in the 37th minute of the match after he had received two yellow cards.

The independent Judicial Officer, Antony Davies, considered the matter by means of written submissions. He concluded that neither offence involved foul play directed at an opponent and that no additional sanction was necessary.
