In a hard fought affair the home side ran out 22-15 victors, with the familiar sight of Steffan Jones, who returned to Keys colours for the first time this season kicking Keys into a 9-8 half time lead with three penalties. Llandovery replied with a Sam Soul try, thanks largely to missed tackles in the Keys midfield and a penalty by James Garland.
Several chances went begging, although Keys looked like a different side to the one that has taken to the field in those four defeats as Keys choosing the to play rugby straight through the middle of the Drovers defence.
Llandovery seemed to improve in the second half, although another Steffan Jones penalty put Keys further ahead.
Tom Lampard, who enjoyed a fine game then scored a wonderful try thanks to good build up play by full back Gareth David and replacement wing Luke Williams. Williams read the situation brilliantly as a lose kick from the Drovers was collected and he fed inside to David who chipped through on the half way line only for Lampard to sprint through and gather the bounce perfectly just inside the 10 yard line and tear away from the Drovers defence to score a cracker. Jones added the extras and another penalty later in the half.
Llandovery then capitalised on a rare mistake by Gareth David who had his kick charged down deep in his own 22 and Soul crossed easily for his second try of the afternoon, replacement Cerith Rees kicking the conversion.
Tom Lampard, Rhys Peebles, Danny Hodge and Leon Andrews were the stand out players for Keys but it wasn’t all good news though as Peebles and wing Nathan Trowbridge both went off the field injured their injuries will be assessed shortly.
