Drovers look to bounce back

Llandovery face a new experience so far this season as they enter tonight’s game with Cardiff on the back of their first league defeat of the season.

The Drovers were knocked off the top of the table by Bedwas as they went down 22-15 to a determined Cross Keys side at Pandy Park.

Keys fielded a strong side with Dragons fly-half Steffan Jones’ faultless place-kicking proving to be key. The Drovers on a few occasions untypically conceded turnover ball in the contact area when promising attacks looked highly likely to result in a score while also missing 11 points with the boot.

The visitors fashioned a chance to get the win with the very last move of the game but failed to exploit a clear two on one chance. They will be looking to get back to winning ways against a Cardiff side who have had new backs coach Mark Ring with them for a full week ahead of tonight’s fixture.

The Blue and Blacks also suffered an away reversal at the Bridge Field, Bedwas last Saturday where, having stormed into a 14–0 lead after only ten minutes, they lost out to 14 men in a second half turnaround which resulted in a 29-20 defeat.

This leaves them with a played 10, won five, lost five record nearing the season’s half way stage. However with Ring having joined recently, they will always be a dangerous attacking team and the Drovers will have to recapture some of the early season form if they hope to repeat the 48-22 success at the Arms Park on the opening game of the season.
