Ashley Beck’s interception try and the boot of Leigh Halfpenny gave Wales 13-10 half-time lead.
But the boot of Tusiata Pisi and a late try from replacement Johnny Leota, added to further scores from Fa’atoina Autagavaia and George Pisi were enough to secure the win for the South Sea Islanders.
Here’s what Jones had to say on the defeat:
“It’s not about me and it never has been really. It’s a disappointment, there’s no way of getting away from that but we’ve got to front up as we’ve got two massive games coming up in the next two weeks.
“This group of guys have got to come in on Monday and front up and we’ve got to try and put it right.
“A disappointed changing room is a disappointed changing room. It’s not a nice place to be, it’s a bit quiet and full of disappointment really.
“But that’s taking nothing away from Samoa. They were big, they were physical and they played smarter than we did.
“We conceded points early on but we bounced back from that. We’ve got to go away and reflect on it and it’s going to be a tough weekend away from here.
“But the boys have got to come back in on Monday, stand tall and try and pull off a miracle next week.
“We as players have to take responsibility. At any one time there’s only 15 players on the pitch.
“Again we’ve trained and prepared well but we didn’t execute. We came second best in all areas and made the same mistakes as we did last week so we have to learn from that.”
