In SWALEC Division Two East, Rhiwbina climbed from third to the top of the table after their bonus point away victory over Abercynon. The result ended 38-17 to the Cardiff-based side.

Meanwhile in Division Four East, Ynysddu’s blindside flanker Ian Prosser scored the only try of the game after they narrowly defeated Cwmbran 5-3. This result meant Ynysddu end 2012 top of their league.

Two matches went ahead in Division Four South West. Bryncethin close the gap on Penlan at the top of the division to six points after they went to Pyle worthy winners in a 21-12 result.

Cwmavon remain in fourth position but are on the hunt for a top three place after they won away against Cefn Cribbwr 28-15. This was despite the victors scored one try compared to the home side’s two.

In Five West, St Davids have won their first game of the campaign, after 11 matches of asking. They beat Bynea 18-14 who are struggling at eighth place.

The biggest margin victory of the day came from Division Five South East as St Albans thrashed Pontllanfraith at home 50-18. Both sides were hovering around the bottom of the league prior to today but the home side ensured they collect just their second victory of the season. Pontllanfraith still have a lot to do as January beacons.

Ystradgynlais also won their second game of the season. They defeated fellow strugglers Banwen, 10-7 in Division Five South West.

At the SWALEC Plate competition, Ammanford of Division One West progress to the third round after their 20-10 away win over Three South West’s Morriston. Cardiff Medicals go through to the fourth round of the SWALEC Bowl, despite drawing 9-9 at Taffs Well.
