The three time Grand Slammer has been out of action for two months after injuring his knee against Leicester Tigers in the Heineken Cup.
Jones subsequently missed Wales’ entire autumn campaign but will make his long-awaited regional comeback from the bench against Toulouse.
“It’s a big boost,” said Ospreys backs coach Gruff Rees.
“We’d like to give him a bit of time because Toulouse have a big 23-man squad and you want to use every resource you have, and Adam is obviously a valuable resource.
“But it had to be right medically and for him in terms of managing his season. We are certainly not going to be reckless with Adam.”
Richard Hibbard also makes his return and starts in the front-row. The hooker has been sidelined since injuring his shoulder against Samoa but has made a remarkable recovery.
“It was a minimum of six weeks, six to ten weeks,” added Rees.
“But he seems to have a durable body and he is mentally tough as well in these situations. Mentally tough is a kind way of saying it!
“But he’s also done his rehab really professionally. He’s been at home doing the appropriate work in terms of icing at the right times.
“He’s rested up well and avoided trying to do too much. He’s been diligent and deserves credit for what he’s done.
“He just loves playing and playing for the Ospreys. We spoke as coaches after the bleak night of the Samoa game, when there were a lot of Ospreys injuries, but Hibbs was on the phone, saying he wanted to be back for Toulouse.”
The Ospreys still have a slim chance of qualifying for the knock-out stages of the Heineken Cup and Rees reckons they can keep their hopes alive with a triumph at the Liberty Stadium.
“With our next two Heineken Cup fixtures both at home here at the Liberty, it gives us a great opportunity to really put ourselves back in the mix.
“There’s everything still to play for in the pool, and we know that if we can get the performance levels right in these games against Toulouse and then Leicester next month, then anything can happen and we could be going into the final round of fixtures with qualification hopes very much still alive.
“Last weekend we saw a glimpse of the Ospreys future with so many youngsters involved out in France, and we can be really proud of the true Ospreys spirit that they displayed in the toughest of circumstances.
“However, pride on its own isn’t enough and we all know that we need to back it up this week in front of our own supporters.”
