Keys destroy Swansea

Cross Keys were convincing winners over a disappointing Swansea side at Pandy Park on Friday evening.

Fly-half Steffan Jones was the architect for the win, scoring 28 points himself in a convincing 48-0 win.

Keys were the only side likely to win from the off and three penalties in quick succession by Jones sent Keys on their way.

Jones himself then got Keys’ first try, touching down after a mix up in the Whites’ defence. Jones converted his own score before hooker Gerwyn Price added a second try, Jones adding the extras.

Back came Keys hungry for more and after heaping on the pressure, the home side got a third try just as the half time whistle was about to blow with a charge down by that man Jones. The score saw them move into a convincing lead of 30-0 at the break.

It seemed only a matter of time before Keys would secure the much sort after bonus point as they piled on the pressure after the break.

Jones put Keys further ahead with his fourth penalty of the night before the bonus point try was secured by make shift winger Dorian Jones, a late replacement for Kristian Baller just before kick-off. He rounded off a fine move with the Hodge brothers playing a key part. Jones this time was unsuccessful with the extras.

Price then added his second try as Gareth David’s precise kick was finished off in style by the all action hooker.

Keys’ final try of a successful evening was reserved for substitute Sean Higgins whose fine individual try in the corner bought the chance of half a century but it wasn’t to be as Jones pulled the conversion wide of the posts.
