The match will be played at the West Park Leeds RFC ground on Sunday, kicking off at 3pm.

Sunday’s tie will be the first leg of a quick fire double header against the Yorkshire club as Ponty will then host Leeds at Sardis Road the following Saturday.

The opposing teams have enjoyed varying fortunes during their first two pool fixtures, Leeds losing both away to Leinster A and at home to Jersey, whilst Ponty drew away with Jersey and secured a narrow home win over Leinster A.

Pontypridd will seek to maintain momentum from a hard fought league win at Llandovery last time out and make five changes from the team that started that match.

The latest injury victim is winger Lewis I Williams with a bruised shoulder, joining wing Owen Jenkins, centre Tom Pascoe, scrum half Gareth James, prop Pat Palmer and second row Craig Locke on the sick list.

Centre Adam Thomas and flanker Rhys Shellard are away with the Wales Sevens squad, and prop Stuart Williams has commenced a spell of extended leave in Australia.

According to Ponty team manager Richard Langmead, recent form in the tournament will count for nothing come Sunday afternoon.

“As is always the case when we come up against fully professional English opposition, the going will be tough” said Langmead.

“Leeds are going well in the Championship and will be going all out to secure their first win in the BIC. We know how difficult a challenge we face, but the squad are up for it having trained well during the week and buoyed by the recent win at Llandovery.

“As well as we have been playing in the Premiership, the Leeds tie will entail a step up in standards for us and will give our players another opportunity to prove themselves on the bigger stage.”
