King: It’s in our hands

James King says the Ospreys are just focusing on themselves as they compete with the Scarlets for a PRO12 play-off place.

The two sides were both winners on Judgement Day at the Millennium Stadium today with King impressing in the Ospreys’ 16-23 win over Cardiff Blues.

King crossed for a first half try and was a powerful presence in the loose as his side recovered from falling behind to an early Leigh Halfpenny score.

And he says Steve Tandy’s men are bang up for what looks like being a hugely competitive end to the season.

These were his thoughts post-match:

“We’re in good stead at the moment, still above the Scarlets. We’re a bit disappointed not to get that bonus point and go ahead given the way we started the first half – we felt we could have improved on that.

“It’s a bit flat in the changing room after that second half performance.

“It’s an honour to play with Tips. He’s an out and out seven as you saw by the way he played against England. He had Warby on the other side and every ruck I went to I seemed to be clearing out him! It’s great to play with those sorts of players around you.

“Not many people would have expected us to do what we did last season and we’ve got all our boys back now. We did a brilliant job during the international break and we’re in shape now to get a play-off place.

“We’ve got a week off then Treviso which won’t be easy. It’ll be a real tough test for us and we won’t take anything for granted.

“But at the moment it’s still in our hands and if we perform then we’ll take fourth – that’s what we’re looking for.

“It’s all in our hands and if we go out there and concentrate as we should then we’ll make the play-offs.”
