It was an open encounter and the Wizards continued their fine end of season form to surge above the Ravens in the final league table after this result.

The home side got the perfect start, centre Richard Thomas racing through a gap in the defence though Jamie Davies sliced the conversion wide.

Minutes later, Bridgend got on the board themselves. Lloyd Evans scored a wonderful solo effort, touching down under the posts to give Jamie Murphy an easy conversion.

The open tie soon provided another score, with Richard Carter scoring out wide for Aberavon. Davies slotted the conversion and also added a penalty soon after to give his side some breathing space.

Before the break, Murphy put the Ravens back into it with a well struck penalty goal but his side still trailed 15-10 at the interval.

The scoring accelerated in the second half. Davies added three more points for Aberavon before a Lewis Williams pass was intercepted by Richard Carter, who ran the length of the field to score. Davies again kicked the extras.

Steffan Andrews then scored a contender for try of the season soon after. He picked up the ball from the left hand touchline, before dancing past three tacklers and scoring in the right hand corner. Davies put the kick wide.

Bridgend had to fight back, and showed some determination in the final 20 minutes. Chris Williams picked up the ball from the scrum before sidestepping two tacklers and scoring under the posts. Lewis Williams drop goaled the conversion and the Bridgend supporters could sense another comeback.

It seemed even more likely when Ben Thomas crashed over the line following an excellent kick from Lewis Williams. Bridgend were now within a score, but vitally Williams sliced the conversion wide.

Late on, Craig Evans kicked the game beyond the Ravens and drew the curtain on another Principality Premiership campaign. The season saw a mixture of up and downs for Bridgend, but Ben Rose will look forward to next season with a young, ambitious squad who would have learnt a lot from the pains of this campaign.
