The Coleg Sir Gar v Coleg Morgannwg clash (3.30pm) will be the climax of a true festival of the game, starting with the Under 11 Schools Final between Castell Nedd and Tywyn Primary Schools at 10.45am.
The Dewar Shield Final at 12 noon sees Pontypridd Schools take on Rhondda Schools, while the Under 18 Schools Final pits the Coleg Sir Gar Second XV against Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf at 1.30pm.
There is free entry for all games, while the last three games will all be screened live on s4c.co.uk and television highlights of all three games will be shown on S4C tomorrow evening (Wednesday, 11.05pm).
The winner takes all Colleges encounter sees the sides, who finished first and third respectively at the end of the league season, meet for the right to be crowned the best rugby college in Wales.
The tournament has seen some free-flowing rugby this season with the two sides in the final particularly impressing along the way.
Morgannwg performed well in their play-off against Llandovery College last Wednesday, running in six tries in a 34-3 win. At the end of the league campaign, Morgannwg had actually finished in third place with Sir Gar topping the table and automatically progressing to tomorrow’s final.
But driven on by an impressive forward pack and with the likes of Aled Summerhill and Jared Evans a threat from behind the scrum, Morgannwg were too much for Llandovery in the end.
Evans was amongst the scorers as were forwards Hemi Barnes, Jack James and Matthew Jeczalick who all crossed in the first half.
All three of those forwards start again at the Millennium Stadium as Morgannwg head coach Clive Jones keeps faith with the side who were so impressive last Wednesday.
“Llandovery went well but Sir Gar are a different challenge,” he said. “We’ll have exactly the same 22 who started last week. It’s nice to have that continuity and the boys are looking forward to it.”
The two sides have faced each other twice in the competition this season with one win apiece. Sir Gar were 36-10 winners in their home fixture back in October with Morgannwg getting revenge in the return fixture, securing a 20-10 victory.
Jones added: “Sir Gar beat us convincingly down there and we got the better of them in the return fixture.
“The experience of playing at the stadium will be fantastic and the great thing about the Colleges league is they’re playing to a high level with their mates. Winning is great but doing it with your friends is even better.
“Sir Gar will start as favourites and they’re a very good side so it will be a stiff challenge but one the boys are looking forward to.”
Jones may argue that Sir Gar go into the game as favourites but the west Wales outfit are aware of the threat posed by the Morgannwg forwards.
Head coach Euros Evans saw Morgannwg in action against Llandovery and knows his team will have to front up first of all in order to gain parity.
“For us it’s going to be a big challenge up front,” he said. “We’ve prepared well this week and we hope we can play an open and expansive game which is what we want to do. The surface and stadium will certainly benefit the way we want to play and we are guaranteed a dry day which suits our game.
“To play at the Millennium Stadium is the icing on the cake. Some players may go on to bigger things but for others it might be the only time they play there. It’s an opportunity which is a fitting end to a wonderful tournament.”
