However, it was Bryncoch centre Rhys Jones who was voted as the pest player of the match with a fine display of tackling in particular.

Bryncoch took the lead when centre Craig Thomas hit over a huge penalty and Glynneath drew level when fly half Matthew Llewellyn, who had missed earleier, landed a successful goal.

Thomas fired just wide and it was near the end of the half that Glynneath went ahead with the ball being recycled well before centre Lewis Knoyle, brother of Wales scrum half Tavis, who just went over for a try as he was tackled.

In the second half Llewllyn was again unsuccessful with a penalty and a trermendous Bryncoch surge from skipper Stuart Thomas and flanker Neil Wingrove gained the latter a try that Thomas converted.

Surprisingly losing 10-8, Glynneath then had the lions’ share of ball but found the Bryncoch defence, marshalled by Rhys Jones, quite outstanding.

It had to break though and it was Glynneath No 8 Ashley Hopkins who was driven over for a vital score.

Though the conversion failed, it was now all Glynneath and twice they gained penalties that in true cup rugby they elected to kick with replacement Shaun Tennant landing two good efforts to ensure that his club retained the cup.

Skipper David Andrews was presented with the Cup by Worthington Sponsorship manager, Mr Paul Doubler
