The new initiative is supported by all nine comprehensive schools within Merthyr and Cynon whereby they all participate in the WRU Skill Development programme, delivered by WRU Player Development Officers Duane Goodfield and Geraint Lewis.
Each school plays in house fixtures at years seven, eight and nine, with the winners progressing to the finals of the new competition named the M.C. Valleys Cup.
The competition is sponsored and fully supported by Valley Education Services.
“Thank you to the Valley Education Services for supporting schools rugby and providing an opportunity for players to participate in a great competition,” said Mr Goodfield.
“Congratulations to this year’s winners Rhydywaun year seven and eight and Afon Taf year nine.”
