The GUINNESS brand, which will remain an Official Partner of the WRU until at least 2016, is the latest to back the reigning double RBS 6 Nations Champions of 2012 and 2013 – who won their third European title in six seasons earlier this year.
Owned by DIAGEO, the world’s leading premium drinks business, GUINNESS is awarded the status of Principal Partner of the WRU alongside Admiral, Brains Beer, Gilbert, Heineken, Powerade, SEAT and Under Armour.
GUINNESS first began their association with Welsh rugby in 2010 and this new partnership builds on the brand’s already strong presence in and around Millennium Stadium, with GUINNESS and the WRU working collaboratively to enhance the fan experience on international match days.
Celebrating a passion for rugby, the partnership will continue to deliver engaging experiences for supporters and all visitors to the national ground in Cardiff.
Roger Lewis, WRU chief executive, commented: “We are delighted to be announcing the continuation of our partnership with GUINNESS, a brand that has such a strong rugby heritage. We have worked closely with GUINNESS over the last three years and we look forward to developing the best match day experiences for our supporters over the coming three years.”
Rory Sheridan, Head of Sponsorship, Diageo Western Europe added: “Today’s announcement marks the next stage of our ongoing commitment to international and Welsh Rugby. We are delighted that GUINNESS continues to be the Official Partner of the WRU at an incredibly exciting time for the sport in this market.
“The partnership is accompanied by renewed partnerships for GUINNESS with the Six Nations Rugby Limited (SNRL), Rugby Football Union (RFU), Scottish Rugby Union (SRU), the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and Premiership Rugby further cementing the brand’s position in the rugby space as the sport’s profile continues to rise in the market.”
