McBryde is currently on day six of a demanding eight day challenge, raising funds for the Wales Air Ambulance, as part of Cerddwn Ymlaen 2013, a celebrity sponsored walk from Swansea to Caernarfon
After setting off from Swansea last Saturday, McBryde and the team have headed along Wales’ stunning west coast as they make their way north to Caernarfon.
Not only are team averaging 26 miles a day on their feet, they are spending their evenings at fundraising events at each stop as they continue to add to their fundraising total.
The former Wales and Llanelli hooker supported the same event in 2012, taking part in one day of walking, but has signed up for the whole event this year to raise as much money as possible for the worthwhile cause.
“Feeling somewhat of a wimp for only completing one day of working in 2012, I feel honored to be taking part in the full Cerddwn Ymlaen in 2013,” said McBryde.
“The weather has certainly created some problems and the doctor’s room is looking like a war zone each morning!”
“There are two doctors treating blisters and various injuries but it’s a great feeling to be working as a team of walkers and we have a fantastic support team.
“The support team are truly amazing, there are plenty of water and food stops along the way to keep up the energy levels and they are doing a great job keeping everyone’s spirits high.
“Thankfully I’m blister free at the moment but I have been doing as much walking as I can to try and prepare myself.
“It’s great to be out raising funds for such a worthwhile cause. The Wales Air Ambulance relies on public donations so we know every penny we raise is so important.”
