The two famous rivals both had disappointing seasons last year and started this campaign with defeats to boot. Neath were edged out at home to Llanelli with Swansea, despite producing an encouraging performance, going down to defeat at home to Cross Keys.

Neath coach Neil Edwards has made three changes from the side which lost to Llanelli with Liam Davies, Ceri Jones and James Goode all coming into the side. Goode captains the side from lock.

Edwards said: “Both sides suffered home defeats in their opening games so will have something to prove on Sunday.

“We were very disappointed to throw away a 16-6 half time advantage but our performance fell away in the second-half and that is something we can ill afford against anyone.

“We will certainly be looking for the full 80-minutes’ worth on Sunday and we have tweaked one or two things this week.”

Swansea meanwhile, have the IRB Junior World Player of the year available, Sam Davies starting at fly half. He is joined in the side by Rhodri Hughes, Nicky Smith and Nicky Thomas who all played alongside Davies at the Junior World Championship this summer.

No. 8 Dan Baker, who toured Japan with Wales in June, will clearly be a marked man.
