On a pristine surface at Cardiff Arms Park, Cymoedd had only led 12-6 at the break with Owen Jones and Lewis Morgan crossing and fly half Jared Evans converting the second of those tries.Â
Dan Jones had kicked two penalties for Sir Gar but at the start of the second 40, Cymoedd ran riot. Their attacking game was in full flow and with plenty of overlaps to take advantage of, three quick scores eventually secured the game.
Harri Millard got things moving with Morgan adding his second. And when outside centre Terri Gee added a third in a short space of time, the game was pretty much up for Sir Gar. Evans converted two of the three tries and although Sir Gar fought back it was too little too late.
Rhys Davies crossed twice for the west Wales outfit with Shaun Evans adding a third try but they were made to regret their slow start to the second period. Millard’s second only stretched the winning margin further in Cymoedd’s favour.
The home side had served notice of their intent in the early exchanges with Owen Jones opening the scoring early on. Sir Gar responded with a couple of long range penalties from Dan Jones before ill-discipline came back to haunt them.
Ryan Morgan and Kieran Cullen were both yellow carded but despite being down to 13 at one stage, Sir Gar stayed remarkably resilient. A Cymoedd score was inevitable though and before the end of the first half, Morgan gave the home side a six point interval advantage.
While the first half had been tight, the start of the second was anything but. Millard, Morgan and Gee all crossed in double quick time and that was pretty much that.
Sir Gar did show a remarkable amount of resilience to fight back, Evans and a Davies double bringing them closer to the home side. In the end though, Sir Gar fell short and saw their unbeaten run this season end too.
