With Ponty seeing their game at Neath postponed, Carmarthen took full advantage with a seven-try success at Bedwas.
Rhys Williams gave them the perfect start when he grabbed the game’s opening try with just two minutes on the clock, with Will Boyde adding a second just six minutes later.
Bedwas opened their account with a Richard Powell penalty with 17 minutes played but Quins were celebrating their third try three minutes past the half hour when Iolo Evans claimed the first of his brace.
Craig Evans converted all three first-half scores for the visitors but Bedwas gave themselves hope when Harley Thompson touched down after 37 minutes.
Powell added the extras to cut the gap to 21-10 at the break but Quins were even more dominant in the second period.
Jason Harris crossed for the bonus-point score seven minutes after the restart and, although Lewis Hudd hit back for Bedwas 10 minutes later, Aled Thomas and Iolo Evans put the game to bed when they added quick-fire tries after 67 and 69 minutes.
James Davies then added even greater gloss to the scoreline when he bagged the seventh score right at the death, while Craig Evans missed just one of the four second-half conversions to finish with 12 points as Camarthen made it six wins from six.
Llandovery were the second big winners on Saturday as they earned their fourth win of the season with a 48-14 thrashing of Newport at Church Bank.
The hosts, who started the day in fourth but ended it level on points with Ponty in second, scored six tries through six different scorers.
Ian Brooks, Craig Woodhall, Richard Bloomfield, Phil Day, Luke Lewis and Andrew Jones all touched down, with fly-half Brooks converting every try and adding a brace of penalties in an impressive display with the boot.
The game remained a real contest until after the interval, though, as Llandovery led just 20-14 at half time.
Geraint Thomas kicked three first-half penalties for the Black and Ambers after Dale Rogers had given them an early lead with what proved to be their only try.
Newport had the wind behind them in the first period and Llandovery simply kicked on when the conditions went in their favour after the restart.
The other mid-afternoon kick-off saw a much tighter affair as Cross Keys edged Bridgend 20-15.
Keys led 13-5 at the break in a hugely competitive clash that ended two tries apiece.
A Nathan Trowbridge score was added to by a penalty try, plus two conversions and two penalties from Rhys Jones for the hosts.
James Dixon claimed an interception try and kicked a penalty and a conversion for the away side, with Jamie Murphy the second scorer at Pandy Park.
Bridgend could have gone above Cross Keys in the table with a decent win but instead Keys are now seven points above the Ravens after they registered their third win in five games.
In the day’s late kick off, Llanelli were comfortable winners over Aberavon at the Parc y Scarlets.
Llanelli finished up 27-3 victors to jump above Cardiff ahead of their game with Swansea on Sunday.
