Davies and Jones were both forced from the field in last weekend’s 24-15 defeat to South Africa and will miss the upcoming Dove Men Series clashes with the Pumas, Tonga and Australia with pectoral and calf injuries respectively.
It’s a blow to Wales, who also saw Scott Andrews and Liam Williams injured against the juggernaut Springboks, though Faletau reckons Warren Gatland’s men will be all the better for the experience.
“The boys are covered in bumps and bruises but we are steadily recovering and looking forward to the weekend,” said the Dragons man.
“It was up there with one of the most physical games I’ve played in and it took its toll.
“I was disappointed with the result but to play one of the best teams in the world is a great experience and it was a good learning curve.
“We’ve got to recover and get ourselves ready for Argentina this weekend which will be another physical challenge.”
Last November saw Argentina come to the Millennium Stadium and leave with a 26-12 victory, wingers Juan Jose Imhoff and Gonzalo Camacho doing the damage with two quick-fire scores. This time around, the Pumas are under the leadership of a new head coach in Daniel Hourcade and are without inspirational captain Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe.
Looking ahead to this weekend’s clash, Faletau added: “Argentina are big brutes so we’ve got to match their physicality and their forwards.
“We lost to them last year and hopefully it will be a better result this time.
“I think we managed to match South Africa’s physicality but we just couldn’t get enough points on the board.
“They will miss Lobbe – he’s been such a big player for them – but I’m sure the player in his place will do just as well.”
Faletau has been joined in the Wales camp this week by regional teammates Tom Prydie and Hallam Amos.
“It’s been good to have Hallam involved. He has been playing really well for the Dragons and it was great for him to have the call up,” said the Wales No. 8.
“He just takes everything in his stride, nothing seems to faze him at all.”
