Narbeth remain a distant second despite a comfortable 33-3 victory over Beddau. The visitors managed just one penalty, kicked by Tom Benjamin as the hosts ran in three tries. Steve Madde and Ianto Griffiths added to a penalty try and Griffiths converted all three, as well as adding twelve points from penalties. Beddau remain stuck in 11th.
Tondu, one place below Narbeth, didn’t fare any better as they went down 40-10 against Pontypool. They were just three points behind at half time thanks to a Matthew Morgan try converted by Gareth Powell, who also scored a penalty. But Pontpool added 27 points after the interval to add to Dan Haile’s first half try and Sam Mills’ penalty. Trevor James got the second try of they day for the hosts and Luke Dyckhoff added two more, all converted by Sam Mills, who scored a further three penalties.
Bargoed’s good form continued against bottom side Bonymaen as they ran out 39-12 winners. Nathan Brookes and Nick Clancy scored for the visitors, with Richard Cunliffe adding a conversion, but tries from Lewis Protheroe, Darren Humphries, Luke Smalley, Geraint Edmonds and a penalty try saw the hosts home. Josh Prosser added four conversions and a penalty.
RGC 1404 remain in fourth after they smashed Llanharan 64-7, scoring 10 tries. Lewis Barker got two and there were nine other scorers as they took a comfortable 40-7 lead at half time before consolidating in the second half. Lewis Barker added four conversions and Rodney Carlton-Jones kicked the fifth in the emphatic victory.
The mid-table battle between Cardiff Met and Tata Steel saw the students edge a tight game 25-14. The sides were level at half time after James Beal scored for the hosts, converted by Mark Cooke, and Gareth Edwards went over for the visitors with Evans adding the conversion. But Cardiff Met turned the screw in the second half and Chris Lewis went over to put them in front. A penalty try converted by Simon Evans kept Tata in contention but Mark Cooke’s two penalties and a late try were enough to give Cardiff victory.
