The visitors were blown away and only managed six points from the boot of Ianto Griffiths who kicked two penalties in the first half. Lewis Barker matched him with two penalties of his own and was RGC’s man of the match with a try and a conversion for a total of 13 points for his side. Carwyn Ap Myrddin, Tom Blackwell and Ollie Cracknell completed the four-try victory for RGC.

Pontypool stay in fourth place despite RGC’s win after battling to a 14-14 draw at Bridgend Athletic. Two penalties from John White had the hosts in front at the break, but Sam Mills also had success with the boot to ensure his side were only 6-3 down.

Mills continued to produce the goods in the second half and added another two tries, alongside a try from Aaron Quick. But Steven Lewis’s penalty and an Aled Thomas try levelled the scores for mid-table Bridgend and secured them a draw.

Bonymaen’s relegation battle continues to see them rooted to the foot of the table after a 22-40 defeat at home to Cardiff Met. The Students raced into a 30-0 first half lead thanks to tries from Jamie Harris, who grabbed a brace, Josh Walker and Ed Curtis. The hosts managed only a penalty from Richard Cunniff but hit back after the break.

Tries from Tom Bevan, Michael Hughes and Nathan Brookes and two conversions from Cunniff gave them 22 points but Joe Smith’s converted try and a penalty from Chris Lewis ensured Met still secured a comfortable win.

Tata Steel leapfrogged Newbridge to move up to ninth with a bonus-point victory at Groes Fields. Two stand-out performances from Jonny Morris, with two tries and Kieran Meek with five penalties were not enough for the visitors, as Tata ran in four tries of their own.

Cameron Davies, Matty Postuma and Micky Howard added to Simon Evans’ effort, which was his fourth interception of the season. Gareth Walters wrapped things up with a superb kicking performance of his own, slotting over two penalties and converting all four tries.
