Director of Rugby Lyn Jones says youngster Hallam Amos and new recruit Lee Byrne, who will arrive from Clermont Auvergne for the next campaign, will be the two men competing for the number 15 shirt next season.

Amos made his full international debut against Tonga in November and was a key man for Wales Under 20 last year as they reached the final of the Junior World Championship while Byrne has previously been a key man for Wales, winning 46 caps along the way.

“We’ve got to think of the future,” said Jones.

“Dan is a really good player and I am sure he will have no problem picking up a deal with an English or Welsh club in the future. That’s all I wish, that players move on and do as well as they can.

“I’ve made a decision that Lee Byrne and Hallam Amos will be our full-backs next year and I am sticking to that.”

The 25-year-old Evans has been a big hit with the Dragons since heading to Newport from the Scarlets in 2012. He was the region’s top try scorer last season with nine but looks set for pastures new this summer.
