The opening exchanges were even with Caernarfon recycling and keeping possession well but not duly troubling the home defence. In contrast a home line out take and maul saw second row Cari Bowen Davies free herself to charge towards the line unchallenged to open the scoring. Rachel Rees added the conversion.
Ever game Caernarfon pressed forward and following an offside call they were able to record their opening points with a well struck Sera Bailey penalty.
The forward battle was an even enough contest but the long accurate pass of Rees at standoff and the precise running of Jami Davies at centre began to pose problems. Such a combination freed fullback Jess Baugh to extend the lead to 11points with Rees’s second successful conversion.
The visitors to their credit persisted to take the game to the opposition but were not clinical enough in the red zone and as a result a turnover led to Davies breaking clear and running some 70 meters to give Seven Sisters a clear three score lead with yet another Rees conversion.
It was possibly expected that the home side would consolidate their advantage early in the second half but resolute defence and the occasional counter attack kept Seven Sisters at bay for the third quarter.
Finally wing Angharad Rees who had represented Caernarfon gallantly during the first half spun free from a tackle and found another first half adopted Cofi in ever present Jenny Davies at hand to gather and charge towards the try line and thus record the bonus point try. Twenty five points advantage was secured with yet another Rachel Rees conversion. Sadly, Angharad was injured during the final play of the afternoon.
Soon afterwards a clearance from defence was collected by hard running centre Helen Jones whose counter attacking skills came to the fore as she was able to deftly release Davies on her outside to add another five pointer.
With 10 minutes remaining Cari Bowen Davies once again broke free from the back of a ruck to charge the final twenty meters to score an unconverted try following good work by Amy Kelland. Caernarfon mounted one final challenge having lost two stalwarts at flanker and stand off to injury.
Olwyn Jones on her return from New Zealand guided the Cofis into the danger zone and a fine workmanlike performance by prop and captain Cenin Eifion culminated in releasing centre Grisial Pugh who herself spun from a tackle and grounded to warm applause from the knowledgeable home crowd in recognition of a fully committed team performance once again. Olwyn slotted the conversion to bring proceedings to a close.
