The Tournament Organisers, England Rugby 2015, are working with the RFU and WRU to reward existing rugby club volunteers with the chance to play a key role in the delivery of eight Millennium Stadium matches which include two quarter-finals and two of Wales’ pool matches on home soil.
‘The Pack’ will take on a range of roles including transport, meet and greet, accreditation and way-finding during the Tournament and will be made up of rugby volunteers (75%) and a further 1,500 potential new volunteers via the national campaign at: www.rugbyworldcup.com/volunteers.
Nominated club members throughout Wales can apply to join ‘The Pack’ by accessing the Rugby World Cup 2015 website and using their unique application code which has been sent out to all clubs by the WRU.
The WRU is looking forward to sharing Rugby World Cup 2015 celebrations in Cardiff with the volunteers who make a significant contribution to the community game in Wales each week.
“We’ve got fantastic rugby volunteers in Wales and we are so pleased to be rewarding these individuals with an opportunity to get involved in Rugby World Cup 2015 matches at Millennium Stadium,” said WRU Head of Compliance Julie Paterson.
“The project has been met with great enthusiasm by our District Representatives who have been busy spreading the word throughout the rugby clubs since ‘The Pack’ was launched last month.
“From today all our volunteers can use their unique club codes to get online and apply to be part of all the action at the Millennium Stadium when Wales take on some of the best teams in the world at Rugby World Cup 2015.”
Applications from the club volunteers will be accepted until 17 April. The nominees will be invited to ‘Try Outs’ in Cardiff from June-December.
