The match on Sunday will prove to be a step up in competition level for the Valley Commandos as they go head to head with their English Championship opponents.
“We look forward eagerly to this contest” said John. “Its been in the back of our minds for the past six weeks, but we have had to concentrate on our domestic league and cup commitments in that time.
“Overall we have shown good form, although suffering a setback down at Aberavon last weekend. We put that right emphatically in the return match on Tuesday evening and the squad are now in positive frame of mind before the Cornwall trip.
“To reach the quarter final round of the BIC is an achievement in itself, especially qualifying from a group that contained strong English Championship sides London Welsh and London Scottish. We now face another fully professional team in Cornish Pirates and know that we will have to up our game, be clinical and accurate in everything that we do, to stand any chance of getting a win.
“There’s a buzz around the club, around the whole community, with our supporters again travelling in hoards down to Cornwall to shout us on. It will be a tough challenge, but we trust that if we are at our best, and with that level of support, we will at least be in with a shout.”
