McBryde: Judgement Day a great opportunity

Wales coaches will have the chance to run their eye over all four regions a week on Sunday when the Welsh sides go head-to-head in a double header at the Millennium Stadium.

Last year saw the inaugural Judgement Day battle take place on the Easter weekend and on this Easter Sunday Cardiff Blues host the Scarlets at 2pm before Newport Gwent Dragons play the Ospreys at 4.45pm.

Having all four welsh regions in one stadium, pitting against each other, will give the national coaches an opportunity to see a wealth of Welsh talent on show as they ramp up preparations for their two-test summer tour to South Africa.

“From a coaches perspective we will be going along with the opportunity to see all four sides in action and Welsh players going up against each other,” said Wales assistant coach (forwards) Robin McBryde.

“We get around to a lot of the regional matches but this means as a coaching team we can all be at the same game watching all four sides and get to see what regional rugby has to offer.

“It’s the business end of the season with sides trying to make the play-offs and are fighting for league position so there is a lot to play for and of course they are derby matches at the end of the day.

“Obviously we have got a summer tour we are preparing for so from our point of view it’s a chance to see how a lot of the players perform up against each other.

“As well asthe current internationals there are players on our radar who we are interested in seeing more of.

“Last year’s event was a great day out and hopefully this year can be just as good.

“The Millennium Stadium is a fantastic venue for players and fans a like and it’s a chance for all four regions to come together at the home of Welsh rugby.”

Welsh rugby fans can get their tickets now for Judgement Day, the double-header regional derby event, at the Millennium Stadium on Easter Sunday with special prices for families from just £40 for 2 adults, 2 children.

Over 36,000 fans turned out for the inaugural event last season and this year’s event is expected to be another bumper occasion with tickets available now at wru.co.uk/tickets
