It’s the first time Ysgol y Preseli have made it this far in the Schools Cup Final, although they won the Vase competition three years ago, beating Ysgol Plasmawr in the final. They have reached the final by notching four wins away from home – against Ysgol Gyfun Dyffryn Teifi, Coleg Brecon, Ysgol y Strade and Bryntirion Comprehensive.

On Saturday (5 April) , the Under 14 Inter School Final takes place at 11am while at 1.30pm, Rhondda Schools take on Cardiff Schools in the Dewar Shield Under 15s Final.

Next Wednesday (9 April), the Welsh Schools Under 16 Final takes place at 2.30pm, followed by the 18th Varsity match between Cardiff and Swansea University at 7.30pm. WRU Head of Rugby Josh Lewsey said, “Schools and Colleges rugby form a key part of our rugby strategy moving forward and we are delighted to be able to give these finalists the prestige of playing on the hallowed turf of the Millennium Stadium. We are indebted to the support that our broadcast partner S4C has given to schools’ and colleges’ rugby this season, not only by broadcasting the WRU Wednesday Under 18 League but in showcasing other levels of schools and Under 18 rugby too and we hope to build on that platform moving forward.”

The games that have been televised this season have been a great advert for schools and colleges rugby, in particular they have reflected a great level of sportsmanship and good discipline that is pleasing to see.”
