Full back Walsh – who is also comfortable playing at centre – joins Cardiff Blues after another outstanding individual campaign for Pontypridd in 2013/14.
The 26-year-old was named the Principality Premiership Player-of-the-Year after a superb campaign for the league and cup winners. Walsh also collected the award for Try-of-the-Season for his effort against Llandovery in March.
Walsh – who is 5ft 11in and weighs 12st 12lbs – played for his town club Llantwit Fardre from youth to senior level before moving on to represent Llanharan.
He was a member of the team that won the 2010 British Universities Cup, while studying at Loughborough University, and also gained representative honours with Welsh Academicals.
Walsh, who joined Pontypridd in 2012, has also enjoyed a playing spell overseas with the Western Pioneers in the Auckland province in 2011.
He said: “I’m really pleased to get the opportunity to go into the professional environment at Cardiff Blues. At 26 I am determined to take the chance and show I can perform at this level.
“I know a number of the boys that Cardiff Blues have signed over the last few years so there will be familiar faces that will help me settle in.
“The plan is to keep the form from last season going and kick on again. I was really pleased with how I went last year, but I feel I can only benefit from being with the Blues and the players around me pushing up standards.”
