Demand for tickets doubles

The demand for tickets to watch Wales in this autumn’s Dove Men Series at the Millennium has already doubled ahead of their release on public sale this week.

WRU Member Clubs and Debenture holders have snapped up more than double the number of tickets to watch Warren Gatland’s side, compared to the same time last year.

The introduction of a new scheme encouraging fans to purchase tickets from their local community clubs has seen a spike in sales as well as providing a financial boost to those clubs.

In the scheme clubs earn commission from the WRU for each ticket sold for tier one games with up to £2,000 accessible per club when full allocations are sold.

Thirty-four clubs have sold their full allocation of tickets for 2014/2015 and will receive a further benefit of being awarded a full supply of senior kit for the 2015/16 season, for a 23-man squad, by official WRU partner Under Armour.

The Group Chief Executive of the Welsh Rugby Union, Roger Lewis, said:?“Our message to fans has been to purchase their tickets through our member clubs and the result is that clubs are benefiting from the demand to watch Wales.
“Each ticket sold directly and financially supports each local club and I’m also delighted that 34 clubs have sold their full allocations, earning not only their full commission but a full senior kit from our partners at Under Armour.
“The scheme is a huge financial boost to community clubs and ensures they are the first port of call for international tickets.
“This November will see Warren and his squad take on the best in the world once again and is a great opportunity for supporters to see Wales’ preparations continue ahead of next year’s Rugby World Cup.”

Wales will take on Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and South Africa in the Dove Men Series this autumn with prices at the Millennium Stadium ranging from £10 to £20, for Fiji (tier 2) with group offers also available.
Tickets for the clashes with the Springboks and the Wallabies range from £25, £40, £60 and £70 and for the first time for tier one games, concessions tickets, priced at 50% of full ticket price in band B will be available for those aged 16 and under.
Tickets to watch Wales face the All Blacks start at £30 to £50, £75 and £80.

Following the member club allocation, tickets for all four matches go on sale exclusively to WRU Supporters Club members today (Monday August 11th).  More than 7,000 members benefit from priority tickets as part of their membership package and supporters can join by visiting www.wru.co.uk/members

Remaining tickets will go on general public sale at midday Friday August 15th and will be available from www.wru.co.uk/tickets , by calling the ticketmaster sales line on 03333 219989 or from the WRU Store on Westgate Street.
