In addition to the WRU National Youth Cup, which has been running for the last decade with 48 teams, new Plate and Bowl competitions have now been introduced, meaning every youth team in Wales will now have the chance to compete for a place at Youth Cup Finals Day at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 18 April 2015.
Last season’s Cup champions Penallta begin the defence of their title away at Glamorgan Wanderers, while 2013 winners Carmarthen Athletic are at home against Nantyffyllon.
More than 160 teams have been entered into one of the three knock-out competitions – there are due to be 31 Cup games played around Wales tomorrow, with a Walk Over for St Peter’s 1st team, 19 games in the Plate, with six teams going straight to Round Two, and 23 games in the Bowl with eight Walk Overs.
The competition will benefit from increased profile – highlights of selected Round One Cup fixtures will be shown on the Rygbi Pawb programme on S4C on Wednesday 17th September (10.30pm).
