The Wallabies utility back scored a try in their nail-biting 30-26 over Wales in Cardiff last December. It equalled Lote Tuqiri’s tally of 10 international tries in a season and Folau is hungry to add to his record in the Dove Men’s Series clash.
Folau said: “I enjoy the challenge of playing the Northern Hemisphere sides. I only got to experience it for the first time last year so this time I will have a bit more of an idea about how they play.
“I’m excited about it. It’s a good chance for us to build a really solid platform before we get into next season.”
Wales are hoping to end Australia’s nine-game winning run which stretches back to 2009. Saturday’s game will be the final meeting between the two sides before they meet in next year’s World Cup.
Folau added: “It helps having won nine in a row but we can’t rely on that. The Welsh outfit is always very strong. We have not seen much of them play, apart from in the Six Nations, so we are really focussing on ourselves. But Wales is a team that is really building nicely over the last few years.
“For us every game is tough and Wales are going well so have to be ready to turn up.”
Folau has hailed the influence of Michael Cheika since he replaced Ewen McKenzie last month. Cheika led the Wallabies to his first win against the Barbarians at Twickenham last weekend and Folau believes the Green and Gold are in good hands.
“I am really comfortable with the new coach,” explained Folau.
“He’s proved himself at Super Rugby level and I like the way he has been since joining the Wallabies team.
All the boys are feeling really good with him in charge. He’s doing a great job of getting to know the group.”
