The Black & Ambers will certainly feel that it should have been more but the records will show that the two wins – both impressive – were at Ebbw Vale where they took the Steelmen’s long standing league home record and their last match at Rodney Parade against Llanelli. Next up for Newport is Neath who are also having a difficult time with only one league win to date but that was an impressive victory at Pandy Park recently.
Newport will be hoping to continue their impressive win against Neath having won their last five matches against the Welsh All Blacks including doubles for the last two seasons but once again have to cope with a long injury list – however they do welcome back Jonathan Morris, Dai Pattison and Ross Gibbon – while Luke Morgan and Sam Cross are on Wales 7s duty. Hopefully club captain Ollie Griffiths will be available having once again been called up for Dragons duty on Friday.
