It was only the third time in the season that Swansea had had their colours lowered since dropping out of the Principality Premiership and their defeat meant Bargoed were able to open up a 14 point gap at the top of the table.
Swansea looked set when they led 12-3 at the break in Pembrokeshire, scoring two tries, but they failed to register a point after the break and were penned into their own territory by a highly motivated home side.
Rhys Lane was the home hero with his second half try and Ianto Griffiths chipped in with a conversion and two penalties to complete a famous victory that moved the Otters into fifth place.
Lee Pearson was the Bargoed hero as he ran in a hat-trick of tries in yet another bonus point win for the unbeaten Championship leaders and Josh Prosser helped himself to 18 points as he landed four penalties and three conversions. The Bargoed bonus point try came from Geraint Edmunds.
Gynneath managed to hold on to beat Cardiff Met 17-13 despite twice being reduced to 14 men due to yellow cards. First half tries from wing Jordan Griffiths and lock Jonathan Griffiths, one of which Jack O’Reilly converted, gave the home side a 12-3 interval lead.
But the students hit back with two second half tries of their own, from Tyler Williams an Ollie Bilton to bag a bonus point after No 8 Alun Jones had crossed for a vital third home try.
Pontypool picked up a bonus point in their 26-14 victory at Blackwood, where Clayton Gullis converted three of the four tries and grabbed a try, while home tries came from Andrew Coad and Jack Goodie, both of which Dan Parry converted.
RGC 1404 turned a 13-6 half-time lead into a notable 25-18 home win over Merthyr. Andrew Baston, Harri Evans, Shaun O’Rourke and Afon Bagshaw scored the tries that brought the bonus point and Rhodri Carlton-Jones kicked a penalty and conversion.
Josh White was Bridgend Athletic’s hero in their 33-21 derby win at Llanharan as he landed seven out of seven kicks at goal for a match tally of 18 points. The visitors’ also mustered tries through Lindsay MacAusland, Wayne Fooks and Henri Williams.
Second row Bill Codey touched down twice for Llanharan and Dafi Davies got the other try. Codey Rees converted all three.
