The West Walians crashed to the bottom of Pool Three after their second successive defeat, after they started so brightly with victory over Leicester Tigers. And Williams wants to put things right next weekend when Ulster travel to Parc Y Scarlets.
He said: “We owe the coaches a performance. We set the standard in the first round and we’re really disappointed in our performance here. The good thing is we get to put things right on the weekend.
“There were too many individual errors, penalties and missed tackles. Ulster punished us and we can’t afford to allow them to do that. I don’t think we need to say much – it’s more about actions than words now. We need a big performance on the weekend.”
The Llanelli region will now have to win the reverse leg, beat the Tigers at Welford Road and overcome champions Toulon at home to stand a chance of getting out of the ‘pool of death’. But the Scarlets have not lost at home since their Heineken Cup round five defeat last January.
They could be without influential full-back Liam Williams and abrasive flanker James Davies, who saw yellow in the Kingspan Stadium loss.
But Scott Williams is keen to take advantage of their home comforts when the welcome the Northern Ireland side to Llanelli.
He said: “It’s going to be tough, we have to concentrate on ourselves and make sure we win all of our games now. The boys are looking forward to next week. If the game was tomorrow the boys would be up for it just to put things right. Next week’s going to be massive, especially with our home run so far – we have to keep that up.”
