The 21-cap back will join from Leicester Tigers at the end of the season on-the-back of two impressive seasons, including a try-scoring performance against European champions RC Toulon in this season’s Champions Cup.
The 27-year-old – who can play wing or fullback – has signed with his future region facing a derby quarter-final tie at the Newport Gwent Dragons. And Scully cannot wait to be a part of the Blues’ new era next season.
He said: “I am beyond excited for the opportunity to join Cardiff Blues and the new challenge. In speaking with Billy Millard, I found the ambitions of the region and the opportunity to develop very attractive. I will do my very best to contribute meaningfully to the team and have a positive impact on the culture. I am looking forward to taking the next step of my career there.
“I would like to thank the entire Leicester Tigers organisation: players, coaches, staff, and fans. I have had a wonderful two seasons there and will always have a special fondness for Welford Road.”
Scully impressed on trial at Welford Road after starring for the USA in the 2011 World Cup and earned a senior deal. He has scored six tries in 34 appearances and still has a part to play as Richard Cockerill’s side fight to get into the Aviva Premiership top four.
“I will leave the club a better player, man and with mutual good will. I have made many lasting friendships and wish them all the best in the future,” he added.
“Currently, my focus is firmly on the conclusion of the Premiership season, where we hope to complete the campaign with a strong finish.
“Moving forward to the summer, the USA will have an intense competition schedule preparing for the World Cup in England. After a hopefully successful World Cup campaign, I will move to Arms Park to begin my first season as a Cardiff Blue.”
