Deadline brought forward for women’s survey

Due to the excellent response to the Welsh Rugby Union’s online survey – Shaping the rugby future for women and girls in Wales – the deadline for completion of all responses has been brought forward to April 30.

WRU National Women’s Rugby Manager Caroline Spanton is delighted with the response where input has come from all levels of the game in Wales.

“We have had a fantastic response to the survey,” said Spanton. “It shows there is an interest in the women’s game and people want to have their say and give us their thoughts.

“Already we have received some great ideas in terms of future direction of the game and we are really excited about the future holds for the game in Wales.”

In conjunction with the survey, the WRU will hold a number of open forums around Wales before finalising the new strategy in the summer.

The Forum venues, are as follows:
Monday 20 April 7pm – Carmarthen Quins RFC
Tuesday 21 April 6pm – Aberdare RFC
Wednesday 22 April 6pm – ‎Cardiff International Stadium
Wednesday 29 April 7.30pm – Caerphilly Centre for Sporting Excellence, Ystrad Mynach
Thursday 30 April 6pm – Llandarcy Academy of Sport

Following the success of the first Women’s Talent ID Day in September, the Welsh Rugby Union is also holding a second talent identification day, this time in north Wales.

The WRU is looking for women and girls aged between 16 and 30 who are competing in any other sport at regional or county level, especially those that require quick, agile and/ or powerful athletes and would like to try their hand at rugby – with a view to playing internationally.

The Women’s Talent ID Day will be held on Saturday 25 April, at Parc Eirias, Colwyn Bay.
