Having teased supporters all week with glimpses of the new Wales range for 2015-2017, the capacity crowd at the Wales v Ireland world cup warm-up game tomorrow, and the millions watching on television, will be witness to a world exclusive when the Wales players unzip their anthem jackets to reveal the new kit for the very first time.
The range, inspired by national heritage and fused with cutting edge innovation, is strictly under wraps until tomorrow afternoon’s Dove Men Test against Ireland.
The Welsh Rugby Union and official technical partner Under Armour have taken the unique step of unveiling the new Wales kit on the pitch just before kick-off.
The innovative new kit, which will be worn for the next two seasons by the national men’s, women’s and age grade sides, has been built with Under Armour’s signature technologies which enable peak performance in all weather conditions; including sweat-wicking HeatGear® fabric, to help keep players cool and dry, and ArmourGrid™ technology for light, durable strength.
Welsh fans attending the Test against Ireland can also be the first to pick up the new kit, and the rest of the new range, as it will be exclusively available from WRU outlets at the Millennium Stadium, at the WRU shop on Westgate Street and online from store.wru.co.uk from 2.30pm tomorrow (Saturday) until Monday. The range will be available from other major retailers from Monday.
Authentic jerseys are available from WRU outlets (online and in store) at the WRU price of £79.99 and replica jerseys at £49.99, matching their 2013-15 equivalents. The kit launched today will also be available to buy in its RWC version – branded for the tournament which means it temporarily does not carry the normal Admiral logo, but includes the tournament mark (priced at £84.99 authentic and £54.99 replica).
Since 2008, when Under Armour first establish its partnership with the WRU, the Welsh national side has reached a Rugby World Cup semi-final (New Zealand, 2011) claimed a Grand Slam (2012) and retained the RBS 6 Nations title in back- to-back seasons for the first time since the 1970’s (2012, 2013).
