Wales West started well against England South East before succumbing 20-5.

West Wales scored the first try of the tournament after good inter-linking work between Alisha Butchers and Katie Thicker saw Delun Allcock on hand to score.

South East then took control of possession, scoring two quick tries. The second half saw Wales West struggle to maintain the ball with turnovers resulting in a further two tries. for the English side.

Even in defeat though, there were a lot of positives to take into day two of the tournament tomorrow where they face England North and Ireland.

There was better fortune for Wales East who recorded a hard fought 17-10 victory over England South West.

Wales East took control of their first game against South Wales England, playing some really positive rugby. They kept possession, controlled the ball well and created opportunities.

Two tries by speedy Emma Hennessey and a third from a well worked team try finished off by Sophie Waugh saw Wales East home.

Wales East play Scotland and Midlands on day two tomorrow.
