Previewing their first home fixture of the 2016 tournament, Edwards believes Scotland are a tough opponent as Wales seek a first victory in this year’s tournament.
“You’re looking at a team (Scotland) that were one referring decision from being in the semi-finals of the World Cup.
“We have a lot of respect for Scotland because they bring the best out of us because we know they can hurt us.”
“Each game is a different entity and previous one’s mean nothing come kick-off time.
“Scotland’s approach work last weekend was magnificent so we have think primarily about ourselves and how to stop that.”
Wales are able to name an unchanged starting line-up for their first game at Principality Stadium after Dan Biggar recovered from injury, and Edwards says such continuity is welcomed.
“Everybody is fit, ready to go and tremendously excited, the roof will be closed and it shows that they want to come and play rugby as well so it makes for an exciting game.
“I like to see running rugby and people making breaks just not against us!”
“We’re lucky that a large number of the players have been together for a few years now so Dan Lydiate or Gethin Jenkins coming in say is of no problem.
“It’s the continuity of the squad that is beneficial for us as coaches, not just the starting fifteen.”
Edwards also took the opportunity to praise the defensive work of Jamie Roberts, who made 21 tackles in the 16-16 draw with Ireland Saturday, the most of anybody on either side.
“If you look at Jamie throughout the last year or two has seen being an aggressive defender, so him putting shots on people is nothing new.
“He’s as hungry as I have ever seen him currently, he’s enjoying rugby and playing regularly, and his tackling is very impressive.”
