Taylor, who leads Wales in to battle against Six Nations leaders England at Twickenham Stoop on Saturday, is also a WRU Rugby Co-ordinator for RGC West in North Wales.
Such is her commitment to raising the profile of the women’s game, Taylor and fellow Welsh international Elen Evans will be heading for Pwllheli straight after Saturday’s showdown with England, to run a #tryourgame session on the Llyn Peninsula on Sunday.
Try Our Game is a series of rugby sessions designed to introduce women and girls aged 16 and over to rugby, or to re-introduce those who used to play and fancy another go. The sessions are fun and social, with no pressure to carry on, but will give those who enjoy it a pathway to continue, either with social, non-contact Touch Rugby, or to find a local club.
“There is a huge amount of activity going on in the game throughout Wales for girls and women at the moment. The WRU has recently launched the cluster centres for younger girls which kick off after Easter and we are already seeing an appetite for that within the schools and clubs we work with,” she said.
“The fact we have switched the season to spring and summer will hopefully encourage more participants as they won’t have other sports to conflict with. These are exciting times for any girl or woman wishing to get involved in rugby.
“Rugby is for everyone and the Try our Game sessions are a great opportunity to see if it’s something you’d like to do more of. Elen and I are hoping to see a good turn-out at Pwllheli on Sunday – it’s great that women and girls in north Wales have the same opportunities as everyone else now.
“It’s our aim at grass roots level to ensure we get more people playing more often, with more enjoyment which can only be good for the nation and the national game.”

Taylor’s immediate thoughts are however fixed on Saturday where she will be hoping to lead her side to victory against England following last year’s win.
“The support spurred us on against Italy and it would be great to be able to go to the Twickenham Stoop and repeat last year’s success at Swansea, in front of another big and vocal crowd on Saturday,” added Taylor.
