The Whites breezed to a 33-0 win over Bridgend Athletic at St Helens, courtesy of tries from Rhodri Wells, Rory Gallagher, Mitchell Walsh, Liam Popham and Richard Thomas. It was as simple a win as Swansea could have hoped for. Outside-half Jack Wilson added eight points, as the Whites produced an accomplished display, to put Swansea at the summit for the time being. Merthyr are three points behind with a game in hand and will be under pressure to resume the league’s leadership.
Third-placed Pontypool are also on the charge and grabbed a convincing 38-17 win over Cardiff Met. Centre Pat Lewis was the toast of the home fans. he got the all-important bonus-point try in the second half, with the score at 26-10. And full-back Clayton Gullis scored 11 points, including a brilliant first half try. Nathan Brooks and Aaron Quick also crossed for in-form Pooler. The hosts’ star man though was prop Garin Harris, who put in a mammoth performance in the front row in tricky underfoot conditions.
They remain ahead of fourth-placed Bargoed, who were 43-13 winners over winless Llanharan. The rock bottom side put in a brave display in defeat, but their search for a solitary victory continues.
Narberth and Beddau have both enjoyed impressive seasons so far, but their encounter was postponed due to wet weather.
