Jason Strange’s men are on course for a Six Nations grand slam after victories over Ireland, Scotland and France. They travel across the Severn Bridge to Bristol’s Ashton Gate Stadium this evening to take-on the Red Rose, who have been beaten by Scotland and Ireland in this season’s championship.
The Welsh starlets showed their battling spirit to come out on the right side of tight contests with Scotland and France, and Ospreys centre Watkin reckons the harmony amongst the squad will have them singing from the same hymn sheet.
He said: “The boys have done well against France and Scotland, they’ve really had to dig deep to get the wins. The boys have bonded really well and everyone is willing to dig in for their teammate and go that extra yard. That will be the case tonight, people going that extra yard for their friend to get the win.”
Watkin returns to the backline with outside-half Dan Jones after both featured for their regions last weekend. And Watkin is ready to make an impact of his own after savouring some famous Welsh victories over the Red Rose.
He said: “It’s always a massive game when Wales play England. There will be a big crowd there and everyone is really looking forward to the challenge. It’s a great opportunity for us to have a crack at England. They’ve got nothing to lose and we have it all to lose, so we’re really looking forward to it.
“The Wales versus England moments that really stand out for me are Gavin Henson’s kick and Shane Williams’ try. But we’re just focused on getting that win because it would mean everything to us.”
